Happy New Year!

I've decided that every year, the first week of January, I will have a little something extra for you to feel confident and ready to tackle the year ahead. So, I've broken down some of my favorite activities to give you awesome goal setting confidence - 'how do'ya like them apples?'

But...

...before we get to the good stuff, I want to tell you about something amazing that happened to me the last week of 2017 - besides the fact that I turned 30.

Say whaattt??

I turned 30 on December 31, 2017!! How crazy?! I know, some of you probably thought I was [maybe] 20? Really fooled ya there, huh! Although, that isn't the story I was going to tell you (even if it is one for the books). Check me out on IG here!

How I discovered my 2018 mantra:

The day after Christmas, Bub and I decided we wanted to start the new year on an exciting new journey together with doTERRA to add more value to our health and personal growth. We joined a mentor team with Melissa Ambrosini and her Husband, Nick Broadhurst, called Path To Freedom  - key word, freedom. When we made this decision, as I reached the bottom of the page to join, I thought to myself, "Yes. I desire Freedom."

In the same day, I encountered two separate facebook posts. The first included a word search that read, "2018 will be the year of..." and then I was prompted to close my eyes for a few seconds, then open them, and say out loud the first word I see. To my surprise, that word was freedom. Next, another post that had the statement, "In 2018, I will manifest..." followed by a blank spot underneath with rapidly changing words and phrases. The prompt was to take a screenshot of the post and put the picture in the comments. Again, as soon as I saw my screenshot, it read, "In 2018, I will manifest...freedom."

The following day, as a Christmas gift, my parents thought it was funny to get their kids, kids-in-laws, kid's boyfriend and girlfriend a very controversial gift - an escape room challenge. Now, I say controversial because my siblings and I come from an Italian family where arguing is nearly an every day occurrence (for real, though). Although, we happened to be very excited to see how it would turn out. We had just ran out of time in the room as I opened the last lock to a toolbox, to find a small key box labeled, "FREEDOM!" in big, black, bold letters staring me right in the face.

'I Desire Freedom.'

I am LIT, with how amazing this sounds to me...and I want you to have the same feeling for your new year! Which is why I am going to give you some of my best tips to tackle the New Year like a pro + I have a free goal setting worksheet waiting for you at the end of this blog :D

How to Tackle the New Year Like a Pro:

First, and foremost, in order for you to freshen your mind and make clear goals for this year, start with a reflection of last year - there is no room for judgement, and always be grateful, regardless of the challenges. Although there might have been some not-so-fun moments in 2017, it is still wise to use those moments as stepping stones to how the year ended for you. So, that means, when going through your 2017 Reflection I encourage you to keep certain things in mind:

  • What were your biggest takeaways? (and yes, the good, the bad, and the ugly.)
  • What was missing?
  • What didn't serve you? Who didn't support you?
  • How did you grow?
  • What would you like to leave behind?
  • Write 3 positive words to describe 2017.

Next, is to set intentions towards your goals. This is slightly different than actually setting goals, because intentions are meant to act as guidance for particular goals. A basic example is, "I desire to feel free in my finances." Therefore, a realistic goal for that intention would be, "to pay off credit card debt." Therefore, when setting intentions, here are some key points to remember:

  • Be specific - avoid using words like "want," "need," or "expect." These words create limiting beliefs that only cause overwhelm, and stress, and disappointment. When thinking about your goals, use words like, "desire," or "envision."
  • Heart-Centered focus - dig deep; what truly lights your fire? Is it abundance in health? love? Is it feeling confidence in your body? Let it all out!
  • Release expectation - as I said before, expectation leads to disappointment. Trust me, I've been there! Focus on the process, not the perceived outcome - this will only keep you stuck.

Lastly, it's your turn to find your mantra and set some REAL goals for this year! The best way to do this is to close your eyes, take long breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth, start to visualize the intentions you have set for yourself. Once you are ready, take your last breath in, and as you breath out, open your eyes and SAY OUT LOUD the first word that comes up for you. Write it down after the following words, "I desire/envision..."

Once you have found your mantra you are ready to start setting real goals for 2018! As you write down your goals, trying thinking of 3 basic steps you can take immediately to put your goals at an achievable pace. You can do all of this with your FREE worksheet!
